A Good Bodies Believer | Kathleen’s Boudoir Session

Kathleen (she/her) was so joyful, which is obvious when you look through her photos, and we had fun making jokes and just hanging out like old friends. When she came in, she let us know how excited she was to wear the Medusa outfit from Thistle and Fire in a color I hadn’t seen before.

Since her session, we’ve become friends and she even bought my old desk from me! It was very cute because both of us were like “WE WANNA BE FRIENDS BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT AS ADULTS” so now we have board game dates planned in the future.

Kathleen wore the Fashion Nova fave of 2022 and three other gorgeous sets from ARQ and Thistle and Spire.

What were you the most nervous about coming into your session?

I had never done a photoshoot before, so I was worried that I wouldn’t be good at the poses or know what to do with my face. I had also never been in front of a camera in lingerie, so I was nervous that I wouldn’t like how it looked or would feel self-conscious in the outfits I chose.

Why did you choose Good Bodies for your session?

The way you not only welcomed but celebrated, bodies of all kinds was so impactful to me.

Before following your work, I had never even considered a boudoir session. But, I knew that booking a session was really the ultimate way to celebrate my beautiful body and commemorate how far I have come in truly loving myself.

Tay lives and breathes the phrase “all bodies are good bodies,” and that energy made the choice easy to book my first-ever boudoir session with her.

What was your favorite part about your session?

I loved that I felt like I was part of the group right when I walked in the door. I was definitely feeling shy and a bit intimidated about the whole session when I arrived, but the energy was so calm and friendly – and that really comforted me.

So, that mellow start was great to calm my nerves and it really helped set the tone for the session to be chill, fun, and comfortable. There was a certain point where I was walking around topless asking for help taking tags off of my outfits and was laughing to myself thinking, “I was so nervous this morning about wearing lingerie in front of people I don’t know, and now here I am topless and not thinking twice about it.” It was the best and I felt so comfortable and confident.

Do you have any advice for people looking to book their own session?

Y’ALL. Take that massive leap of self-love and book the session! I swear I have become a Good Bodies evangelist after my session. It is worth every single dollar. I’ve never felt that much empowerment and confidence in a single day. The session itself was so easy and fun, and the team made me feel so comfortable! Then, once you see your photos for the first time, you will feel like the hottest person in human history. After the sneak peek of images from Tay, I was ready to answer my phone and be like, “Hello, People Magazine? Yes, I will accept the award for Sexiest Person Alive, thank you so much.”

When I initially booked the session, I felt like I would just have the photos for myself and my partner, but I likely wouldn’t want to show anyone else. Once I got the photos, I was reaching out to so many of my friends, saying “Ok, so I just did a boudoir session and it was seriously incredible, so I’m sending you photos of me in lingerie because LOOK HOW HOT I AM.” I didn’t want to hide this beautiful body any longer!

In conclusion: run, don’t walk, to your Good Bodies boudoir shoot! It is one of the most joyful investments I’ve made for myself, and I want everyone to feel this surge of empowerment.
