Liyang was one of my first clients when I opened the new studio on my own. I was scared and we didn’t have much furniture because I thought i wanted to be a minimalist in the space. Clearly that table has turned and here I am with a decked out space, on my third couch, etc. when Liyang came through the door for the second time.
This time, she brought Brad! They were married semi-recently and by the time they came in for photos they were closing on a house! They’ve reached so many important milestones lately and it was amazing to get to capture them in time during those.
I would also regret never mentioning that Liyang and I bonded originally over our small dogs and our love of Drag Race (I am still a newbie, having just finished all the seasons in the last year) and while I was talking to Liyang about it, Brad chimed in and I realized he’s just as much of a fan as we are. We get a lot of shy men who come into the studio unsure and quiet, but I loved that immediately Brad and I were able to find common ground and that he was down for just about anything.
Liyang: Since I did photos last year, I was more worried about my immediate compulsion to compare and analyze how my body’s changed the last year.
Brad: Getting past my discomfort of taking photos in general much less in the boudoir setting, how to pose
Liyang: Getting to do this together was so much fun and definitely made the experience that much more special.
Brad: Getting to see the reveal and how well the photos turned out!
Liyang: I thought I would be less intimidated the second time around but it was still nerve wracking and scary, and that’s okay. You don’t have to be 100% confident going in.
Brad: Just go for it, be open!
